LG electronics has released their new Blu-ray DVD player -- the LG BD300. In addition to being a Blu-ray player it is also capable of streaming Netflix movies via its network port.

Netflix members can take advantage of the 12,000 title library of Netflix streaming video entertainment without the need for an extra box. LG’s new Blu-ray player is an affordable way to get the high definition format’s complete profile into your home theater. It includes BD Live, BonusView features and LG’s proprietary SimpLink technology that combines on-screen menus of other LG products.

Audio and video connectivity includes HDMI and component video and digital as well as analog 7.1 audio outputs. It also offers full HD 1080p output via HDMI with Cinema mode at 24 or 60 frames per second. Digital audio decoding includes Dolby Digital Plus, TrueHD and dts-HD.

At a retail price of only $449.95, demand is high and supply is low for this new hybrid player from LG. Amazon.com is currently taking orders for the new gem for only $399.99 with free shipping - click here.

LG is the Korean electronics firm that had been planning a set-top-box networked video streamer for use with Netflix -- one that could possibly compete with Apple TV. However, few home theater system experts expected to see the Netflix streamer combined with a Blu-ray player. The LG BD300 is indeed a pleasant surprise. If you have been waiting for a reason to finally get a Blu-ray player -- your wait is over.
