Don't buy the Samsung HT-BD1200
by: mruiguy

I could not get this system to work with a Samsung TV either. The exact same problem. I tried everything that was described as well. I'm taking it back. It's very disappointing. I have not been able to find any help online either.

Vizio HDMI handshake issues
by: Phil

Hi Dan -

I believe the issue may lie with Vizio's handling of the HDCP (high definition copyright protection) information that is inherent in the HDMI digital format. I was on an install just last week where the client had a Vizio plasma and we simply could not get it to display an HDMI signal from a Cox Cable DVR box. Component video from the Cox box was fine and his Blu-ray player was fine but the Cox cable box via HDMI was a no-go no matter what we did.

I've had HDCP issues with a Panasonic BD player and an Onkyo receiver as well. Thanks to media producers we are stuck with HDCP to protect illegal copying of digital media -- I just wish manufacturers could get the bugs ironed out of their gear by testing on a multitude of gear before releasing HDMI enabled components.
